1991 Buick Century Custom Idle Problems??

I have a 1991 Buick Centruy Custom with 51,219 miles on it, and she wants to die out on me everywhere when I slow down and when I stop. The previous owner told me that I just need to adjust the Idle, now a couple of people have told me that it doesn't require adjustment to check the Throttle Position Sensor. I have purchased the plugs, and cables because they have not been changed but he assured me that they don't need to be changed he checked them. What should I do-she sounds like she is cughing when she is about to turn off and Jerks? I put in one of those Lucas Oil fuel Injector cleaners, what else should I do on my own?
