Which is best: Aston Martin vantage V8 or DB9?

I'm a girl and I'm booking a day out driving round a track for my boyfriend. I've got the choice of:
DB9 - 'powerful engine yet refined 6.0 litre V12. Top speed 186mph and acceleration 62mph in 4.9 seconds'
or
V8 Vantage - 'nicknamed the "Baby Aston" the V8 Vantage, a true track car with still all the refinements of Aston Martin'
He loves driving fast and his favourite car in the world is the Aston Martin Vanquish (which I don't have the option of for the track day).
HELP! Which one?????

The V8 Vantage is far and away the better track car. It has a full tenth over the DB9 in lateral acceleration (.97 vs .87). The rest of the performance specs are the same (0-60 in 4.7 seconds, 100-0 in 107 feet), however lateral acceleration is probably the most important spec when it comes to having fun on the track anyway.

I'd go for a DB9 but the V8 Vantage sounds much better.

Both cars are absolutely fantastic and he'll love you whichever one you choose.

I'd go for the DB9

He is one lucky fella! Keep up the good work...

I have a DB9, its my second, i have my third due in August.

I recently had a new ECU which meant my car was off the road for 25 days ( see my Q history if you want to check )

I had a vantage for that period, so i have driven a vantage for 1 month, and a DB9 for 2 years.

The vantage is lively and a bit twitchy compared to the DB9.

Its a great car, but seems the "lesser" to me in terms of owning one.

The DB9 is a grand tourer, its great for sweeping fast A roads and therefore suitable for fast circuits.

but as a "local" track car, the vantage will be more chuckable and "feel" faster.

I suspect it might be a "surprise". If its not, why not give him the choice ? If he arrives on track there is a reasonable chance he will feel he is in "second" best. Its not true, the vantage is great, but someone alongside him will be driving the DB9. Maybe think about that....how will he feel when he's in the vantage, and someone next to him is in the DB9 ?

It'll be a blast though.

If he's used to drivnig a normal car, the mid-range acceleration will amaze him. At 140, it'll still throw him back in his seat and put a smile on his face.
