Don't buy a car just because of horsepower, especially an American car. I would take both the TL and the Maxima before the G8. I would take the TL. Honda produces very reliable cars, it has as much horsepower as you need, and the luxury options are incredible. You would also save on gas.
Yup everyone who says TL anything but first doesn't know much about cars. It's almost unanimous.

Have you considered a G37?

286-hp if that is what you care about.

1. Nissan Altima (top of the line though) - Since the Maxima looks like a mishapen spaceship
2. Acura TL - Which is pretty much a nice Honda Civic
3. Pontiac G8 - Will have a low resale value

I really like Acura TLs.

Acura TL's have awesome styling, and they're a division of Honda so they should have a pretty good lifetime...
